Text Box: Ready for the New Year? Here at Sandy’s, we’ll be glad to help you make it a creative and productive one!
Just to acknowledge the fickle Kentucky winter, we have tried to offer classes that only run one session instead of multiple days—although the class may run from 10am to 3pm. If Fayette County Schools are cancelled, our classes will be also, but call ahead if you are not sure.
Sandy’s is starting a monthly series of Heirloom Quilt Blocks which may be done singly for a pillow or bag or as a set to make a quilt. These blocks will be done using a quilt-as-you-go technique and then bridged together to complete the quilt.
Another monthly feature is Santa’s Workshop, where we meet once a month to get a jumpstart on the holidays! The project for January and February is a Tree Skirt, and March is a stocking, so come on in and try getting ahead.
If you haven’t tried Scrap Therapy yet, give it a try—come to a workshop with a bag of scrap fabrics and leave with a box full of neatly cut squares in different sizes. Bring those to the next class and create a project with them! You may work on your choice of projects from the current series.
Our current Quilt Block of the Month is full up with everyone having fun making their 12 blocks for $5! We will be starting a Thangles Buck a Block program soon, so watch for it in February. Other quilting classes include Log Cabin blocks, heirloom blocks, Hawaiian Block, landscape quilting, serger quilting and more.
Check the schedule and calendars for other new classes, including a series of “Fancy Footwork” demos which are $5, with the $5 being applicable to the purchase of a foot or accessory.
We have added a new 4D Software Pro class to the schedule in addition to the 4D/4DExtra 1,2, & 3. This is for all our new 4D Pro owners and will feature the many different programs included in the Pro package.
In March, we are presenting a 3 day 4D Software Overview for everyone who owns the software or is considering it. More details will be available later.
Annabelle Ulshafer is offering several new classes—a chenille scarf and a bias scarf. Both these scarves are fun and different to make—great as an accessory or a gift. Her bowl class will be featuring several variations on the original, so even if you have taken it before, try it again. You can even make squares and hearts!
The American Sewing Guild now has a chapter which is called “Sew What?” and meets at Sandy’s every fourth Tuesday evening at 6pm. ASG has 135 Chapters with nearly 1,000 Neighborhood Groups which promote sewing through sewing fairs, fashion shows, and service projects. Call for more info.
Sandy has recently been invited to represent Sunheat in Central Kentucky. This is a line of Infrared Zone Heating Systems and room size to whole house Mountainaire Air Purification Systems. After seeing how they are built and how they work, Sandy felt that Sunheat is a high performance, high quality line of products. The technology was originally developed for hospitals by Westinghouse. These products can be seen at Sandy’s . What a great way to keep your sewing room comfortable and your fabric stash fresh!
