Getting Ready for Summer at
Sandy's!
As the past few days have shown us, summer is not far away!  Springtime weather in Kentucky is
indeed unpredictable, but at Sandy’s you can rely on inspiration and creativity to blossom!  We have
had fun this past winter while we were hemmed in by the weather exploring the decorative capabilities
of our fantastic machines—embroidery, clothing embellishment, heirloom, quilting, fancy stitching and
footwork, and much more,  Now come and see what we have put together for you!
Sandy’s is continuing a monthly series of Heirloom Quilt Blocks from the book Heirloom Sewing for
Quilters by Susan Stewart.  These may be done singly for a pillow or bag or as a set to make a quilt.
These blocks will be done using a quilt-as-you-go technique and then bridged together to complete
the quilt.  You may join the process at any point, as there is no set order.
Another monthly feature is Santa’s Workshop, where we meet once a month to get a jumpstart on the
holidays!  The project for April and May is a Tree Skirt or a Mantel Scarf, and June is placemats/place
settings, so come on in  and try getting ahead.
If you haven’t tried Scrap Therapy yet, give it a try—come to a workshop with a bag of scrap fabrics
and leave with a box full of neatly cut squares in different sizes.  Bring those to the next class and
create a project with them!  You may work on your choice of projects from the current series.
We will be starting a Thangles Buck a Block program soon, so watch for it.  Other quilting classes
include Log Cabin blocks, heirloom blocks, etc.
Sandy is now representing Sunheat Inc. in Central Kentucky.  This is a line of Infrared Zone Heating
Systems and Mountainaire Air Purification Systems.  After seeing how they are built and how they
work, Sandy felt that Sunheat is a high performance, high quality line of products.  The technology
was originally developed for hospitals by Westinghouse.  These products can be seen at Sandy’s .
What a great way to keep your sewing room comfortable and your fabric stash fresh!
Sandy is often asked where to donate fabric and supplies.  If you know of any group or individual who
quilts or sews as a community service and can use such donations , please let us know, and we will
pass the information along,
Sandy's Kids Can Sew Day Camps will be June 21 - 25 and July 19 - 23,
so be sure to add the sessions you want to your summer schedule!
